12.01.2012 Prinsted Connect

On Saturday 7th we held a lunch at Prinsted to launch the expansion of Prinsted Connect into the local recovery community in Horley. There are now a significant number of ex residents who have chosen  to live nearby and the vast majority are really keen to be a resource for residents who are nearing completion of treatment. To aid the dissemination of information we are exploring the idea of an internet forum for Prinstedians, old and new. At the moment we have a dedicated email address so please contact prinstedconnect@gmail.com if you would like more information or call Brian or Caitilin at Prinsted.

29.09.2009 - Prinsted Goes Totally Caffeine Free!

For most of us, drinking coffee is part of the habitual morning routine.  It can kick start the day, wake us up, we crave it, we love the smell of it, there are so many ways to drink it.  But it can be an addiction, one that is not only physical but also psychological.

In the spirit of inner healing Prinsted went Caffeine free on 14th September 2009

But what does caffeine really do to our bodies?
Caffeine is a stimulant of the central nervous system (CNS), the cardiac muscle (increases heart rate), and respiratory system (relaxes air passages permitting improved breathing, and allows some muscles to contract more easily). It acts as a diuretic (increases the rate of bodily urine excretion), and delays fatigue (having the effect of warding off drowsiness and restoring alertness). For these reasons, caffeine is probably the most popular drug in use. The effects you might notice after consuming a large cup of coffee are hands getting cold, muscles tensing up, feeling of excitement and increased heart beat.

So there you have it – herbal teas and caffeine free coffee from now on!
